Great audio doc on Illinois Jacquet

Flying Home was one of the songs that I loved starting out that I am not embarrassed to still love now after dancing Lindy Hop for more than 20 years. I've heard it so many times than each note arrives at my ear like an old acquaintance. It honestly took me listening to this audio documentary from NPR to really fathom that those 2 amazing choruses of tenor sax are not just the melody of the song, but they in fact comprise one of the greatest and most influential solos in jazz history. And he did this when he was 19 years old.

If you have an hour, treat yourself to this. it is great.
