Ramona mentioned this clip during her session with us so I wanted to post it (go to 53:26). Frankie Manning often spoke of how close he was with Ella Fitzgerald. They spent a lot of time together during his years at the Savoy where she was in the house band, and they were only 3 years apart in age. He used to affectionately call her "sis". It's no wonder with all her time at the Home of Happy Feet that she could hit that 8 count at a moment's notice 30+ years later.
